WELCOME TO MANDELA · NSANGI
Education for an independent and creative mind.
A mixed day and boarding school, nurturing children from Nursery to Primary Seven and opening doors for vulnerable learners in our community.
Struggle for Success
OUR SCHOOL
Founded by teachers Lutaaya Anthony and Kibuuka Vicent, Mandela exists to make quality education more accessible and expand opportunities for vulnerable children.

We are a mixed day and boarding private school on school-owned land near Nsangi Sub County Headquarters, in Wakiso District, Uganda. Our practical, child-centred approach encourages pupils to ask questions, think independently and solve real-life challenges.
We aim to nurture talent, strengthen reading and writing, develop leadership, and support children from different religious backgrounds.
The first two school blocks were constructed.
Licensed by the Ministry of Education and Sports; opened with Nursery to P4.
Nursery to P7 established; the first 19 P7 pupils sat their Primary Leaving Examination.
452 pupils reported in the school's latest supplied enrolment figures.
ACADEMICS & STUDENT LIFE
From early learning to Primary Seven, education at Mandela brings together literacy, practical skills, creativity, teamwork and talent development.
Storytelling, rhymes, riddles, drawing, modelling and play help young children find their voices. The proposal also describes day-care services for eligible young children.
Nursery through P7 is supported by a reported team of 26 qualified, multi-disciplinary teachers, with an emphasis on reading, handwriting, creative writing and independent thinking.
Football, volleyball, netball, athletics, dance and creative activities encourage confidence and teamwork. Top Class to P7 swimming uses an external facility; the school has no pool of its own.

FACILITIES & DEVELOPMENT
The proposal reports three classroom blocks on school-owned land and identifies further development space. It describes a library needing more books, kitchen and sanitation facilities, an art room, a multipurpose hall and a day-care centre within its current and proposed facilities.
Priorities include wider and improved classrooms, staff housing and dormitories. Contact the school to confirm the present availability of a particular facility or service.

SPONSORSHIP & SUPPORT
When bereavement, disability, illness or loss of income makes school costs difficult, a bursary can help a child continue learning. Mandela supports vulnerable pupils, but the school's own resources are limited.
WAYS TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE
Individuals, companies, foundations and community partners can support a learner, a group of learners or an agreed school project.
Help vulnerable, orphaned and disadvantaged pupils meet school costs. Discuss annual, termly or quarterly support with the school.
Support teaching capacity, books, desks, chairs, scholastic materials and practical learning resources.
Contribute building materials or funding toward classrooms, staff accommodation and boarding dormitories.
Help children explore their abilities with sports equipment, music resources and art materials.
Support sanitary supplies, clothing, sick-bay materials, utilities and boarding needs. For food, the proposal requests monetary support rather than food deliveries.
Contribute toward the proposed school van to help pupils who travel long distances to and from school.
